The Sunnydale School curriculum has a strong focus on developing skills and values. We aim to develop skills such as collaboration, communication, public speaking, research, problem solving through Science, Mathematics and IT, creative expression through performing and visual arts. Our curriculum ensures progression and smooth transition from one grade level to the next.
Administration (Curriculum/Teaching Programme)
At Sunnydale School, the class size is a maximum of 20 pupils. This is a deliberate policy aimed at giving a personal touch to each child. This will also enable each child to have maximum benefit of the teacher’s expertise and experience. The standard medium of instruction is English Language and the school is divided into the Early Years and Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Key Stages 1 & 2 ( the primary classes).
EYFS Curriculum
Our curriculum provides high-quality learning through play and Montessori methods. Children are provided with the broad range of knowledge and skills for a solid foundation. The areas of learning include communication and language, physical development, personal social and emotional development, literacy, numeracy, understanding the world, expressive arts and design. Through hands-on and experiential learning, differentiation, and collaborative learning, no child is left behind. The EYFS curriculum ensures that children learn and develop well in stimulating, healthy, safe and secure learning spaces.
Key Stages 1 & 2 Curriculum
The Sunnydale bespoke curriculum for the primary classes is robust and skills based. It is a careful blend of the Nigerian and reputable international curriculums. Subjects taught include Music, French, Science, ICT, Mathematics, English Language, Quantitative, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning, Creative Arts, Social Studies and Character Education.
Co-Curricular Activities
Our co-curricular activities are robust, loved and enjoyed by the children. Engaging in these activities stimulate creativity, develop and nurture diverse skills. They include Orchestra, Ballet, Art and Craft, Swimming, The 7 Habits Club, and Cub Scout.
